BI Spectroscopy as a Research Tool
3.5.2.
This technique is a powerful research tool for study of:

  • Quality and properties of chromatographic supports
  • Optimization of enzyme capture on solid supports
  • Optimizing conditions for fluorescence tagging
  • Improving protocols for bioligand immobilization on solid support, such as
       stationary phase or biosensor sensing
  • Characterization of nonselective binding on solid phase supports

Features of BI as a research tool are highlighted in this section by case study #1, which discovered  the flaws in the widely used protocol for protein immobilization.

And by case study #2, investigating binding capacity of Sepharose 4B beads with immobilized Streptavidin as the ligand.
